Where’s the Love? Only 52% of parents celebrate Valentine’s Day, survey finds

Before kids, Valentine’s Day seemed like a big deal – a day for couples to celebrate their love with some elaborate romantic plans (or at the very least, a restaurant meal where no one needed help cutting up their food).

Flash forward to life post-children, and Feb 14th appears to have lost its significance.

According to a survey conducted by the Institute of Mums, just 37% of mums plan to buy a present for their partner this Valentine’s Day, with a further 15% giving their partner a card. The remaining 48% will not be gifting their partner anything at all – zilch!

Meanwhile, as many as one in five parents (21%) plan to give their child(ren) a present or card for Valentine’s Day, leading many to question whether the day is morphing into a holiday for kids.
