A mum took her seven children on a special trip to the beach at Porthcawl in Wales to mark Remembrance Day – and drew a field of giant poppies in the sand.
Deborah Hitchins, 43, took rakes to the beach to make the 500ft wide sand field of remembrance.
Her children Sam, 24, Abigail, 19, Elis, 12, Eden, 11, Mila, seven, Noah, four, and Arabella, 11 months, spent a couple of hours in the sand creating a unique way to remembering the fallen.
“Each year we mark Remembrance Day by doing an activity with the children,” Deborah wrote on her blog.
“This gives us an important opportunity to open up a discussion with the children about the relevance of poppy day and why we remember. This year we decided to head to the beach with our rakes and rake some poppies into the sand. It was a lovely day, the children did a fantastic job and we took time to reflect on history.”
